The institute
The institute for clinical research and development in Mainz (ikfe GmbH) was founded by Prof. Dr. Dr. Andreas Pfützner (MD, PhD) and partners in 1998. ikfe GmbH offers world-wide complete clinical trial services tailored to the special needs of the pharmaceutical customers. We are a full-service development partner supporting companies to take their new products from research to market.
ikfe offers first class services in both, the area of clinical research and scientific marketing. We are specialized in the planning and support of pharmaceutical product developments and in the organisation and performance of scientific training programs for managers, sales representatives and other customers. Our key strength is the high scientific know how in the area of diabetes, endocrinology and cardiovascular disease as well as the knowledge of the related markets.
Since 2004 ikfe also performs basic research in the area of pharmacogenetics. In December 2006 ikfe herefore obtained a Price of Innovation of the Federal State of Rheinland-Pfalz in this area.
Our multi-disciplinary team of experts is comprised of physicians and natural scientists. All our coworkers in the clinical department, clinical research department, laboratory and academy have substantial experience and know how in clinical research.
In cooperation with the University of Bonn-Rhein-Sieg and the University of Bingen ikfe educates Bachelor and Master students in the field of clinical research.
Next to our own clinical research projects, we are also committed to the continuous improvement of the nationwide quality standards of clinical research in Germany. For this purpose, ikfe has become a member of the Study Nurse workgroup of the AGAH e.V., Hamburg. This interdisciplinary workgroup has been founded to develop, implement and maintain a highly qualified educational course for institutional study coordinators and study nurses, as qualified and experienced staff is a major base for the positive outcome of clinical research projects from the investigational sites.
